Dr. Miklos is a graduate of Medical University of South Carolina where he received his Master of Science Degree in 1985, followed by his Medical Degree in 1989. He then completed his traditional four-year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, in 1993. He then completed a two-year fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Vaginal Surgery in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1995, after the completion of his fellowship, he came to Atlanta, Georgia, where he was named the Director of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Vaginal Surgery at Atlanta Medical Center. Despite being named an authority in his field that year, Dr. Miklos chose to further develop his understanding of minimally invasive surgery and female pelvic anatomy.
In 1996, Dr. Miklos left Atlanta Medical Center and studied under internationally-renowned laparoscopic surgeon, William B. Saye, MD, (retired), and world-renowned pelvic anatomist/surgeon, A. Cullen Richardson, MD, (deceased). Dr. Miklos spent 2 years with this all-star team taking his training to an unprecedented new level among his peers. Dr. Miklos is the first Gynecologist to train in both of these two Fellowships: Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (2 years) and Laparoscopic Reconstructive Surgery (2 years). In 1997, Dr. Miklos founded the Atlanta Urogynecology Associates, which is now Miklos and Moore Urogynecology.
Dr. Miklos continues to pursue excellence in his field by searching worldwide for new, innovative and/or unique surgical and nonsurgical techniques. This commitment to research and development makes Miklos & Moore Urogynecology one of the busiest centers for teaching, research, and surgery in the country.
Certifications & Memberships
Dr. Miklos is Board-Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Inc., and its Division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) and is a Fellow in good standing of:
Dr. Miklos has led the way in performing many laparoscopic vaginal procedures, and was one of the first surgeons in the country to perform procedures including:
He was also one of the first surgeons to do the TVT Sling (1998), TOT Sling (2002), and Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation (2003). Many of these surgeries are now the “Gold Standard” in vaginal reconstruction today.
The pursuit of a better quality of life for his patients has also lead him to investigate, research, study, and then employ surgical techniques for a much desired and requested line of therapy known as Aesthetic (Cosmetic) Vaginal Surgery, or Vaginal Rejuvenation. In fact, Dr. Miklos was the first Urogynecologist in the country to train with Dr. David Matlock (2002) in the discipline of Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation. This surgical training has allowed Dr. Miklos and Dr. Moore to round out their discipline of vaginal reconstructive surgery and offer all modalities of therapy for patients with various expectations and requests. Because of Dr. Miklos’ research and academic resume he is often asked to teach and write about cosmetic vaginal surgery in order to add legitimacy to the discipline.
Dr. Miklos has more training in various types of reconstructive vaginal surgery than just about anybody in the world. He has written more than 300 scientific papers, abstracts and book chapters. He and Dr. Moore are co-authors of the new book Vaginal Rejuvenation. He performed surgery in operating rooms all over the globe and has taught surgeons from world-renowned institutions such as the Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, Harvard, and Oxford Universities.
The procedures Dr. Miklos and Dr. Moore specialize in are:
Dr. Moore originally received his medical degree with top honors from the University of New England in 1994. While at the University he was involved with neurologic and neuroscience pain research, receiving multiple grants in this complex field. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME and then completed a two-year fellowship in Urogynecology and Radical Pelvic Surgery at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Following this, he completed a year of advanced training in Laparoscopic Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery. He has also completed advanced training in the field of Aesthetic Vaginal Surgery and has co-authored, with his partner, Dr. John Miklos, the first comprehensive book on Vaginal Rejuvenation and Cosmetic Surgery for women as well as the FIRST chapter ever published in a major medical textbook on Vaginal Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Moore continues to be very active in clinical research and new innovations in the field of Urogynecology including mesh technology and minimally invasive techniques to treat prolapse and incontinence. He has partnered, published and completed research with prominent investigators and surgeons from centers such as Harvard University, the Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, and University of Rome.
In 2009, Dr. Moore was the first surgeon in the United States to perform the Anterior Elevate procedure (a mesh procedure to treat cystocele and vault prolapse through one small vaginal incision) and has travelled the globe operating and teaching this new technology that he helped develop. He is currently the Principal Investigator in the U.S. in the Multicenter Trial evaluating the long-term results of mesh repair for cystocele and was picked to lead this team of investigators from 10 centers in the United States including gynecologists, urologists and urogynecologists. The two-year results were published in the International Urogyn Journal with Dr. Moore being the lead author and he presented the 5 year data at the international FIGO meeting in Rome Italy in the fall of 2012.
Dr. Moore was also the Co-Principal investigator, with Professor Jaquetin from France, of the AMS Monarc TOT sling worldwide trial leading more than 20 centers across the world. He was principal investigator of the first multicenter trial in the world to evaluate the Mini-Arc Mini-Sling and is considered a worldwide leader in this new procedure. Dr. Moore has published more than 150 scientific journal articles, book chapters and research abstracts.
Over 100 surgeons per year travel to Atlanta to observe and learn from him and his partner Dr. John Miklos in their operating room. He has traveled to and been invited to lecture/operate/teach all over the world, including Finland, Norway, Hungary, India, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Sweden, Greece, Turkey, South Africa, Argentina, Chile, Russia, Taiwan, Poland, Dubai, Colombia (SA), Argentina, Austria, India, England and New Zealand.

INSURANCE COVERAGE: Unlike most vaginal rejuvenation practices Dr. Miklos encourages the use of insurance for coverage of their condition if and ONLY IF they have a medically known condition. Dr Miklos encourages the use of medical insurance which will usually cover most of the costs of the anesthesiologists, operating room and an overnight stay in the hospital and usually SOME OF THE SURGEON FEES. Dr Miklos is NOT managed care participants and thus are considered out of network with most insurance companies.
Dr. Miklos not only took his personal time to talk with me, but through his confidence he gave me hope. Dr. Miklos and his staff went beyond the call of duty and helped to restore what no other doctor would even attempt. I am very pleased with the corrective surgery, and I would recommend Dr. Miklos to my friends and family.

We perform our surgeries in a hospital operating room or in a much more private outpatient surgical center. Though on rare occasions patients will request we do it in the office, however we explain to them that to get my best results we prefer to do the surgery in a surgical suite an operating room.
